We’re excited to share information about Parent Sanctuary, a supportive and inclusive walking and talking group for parents and their little ones in Huddersfield.
Parenting is not easy, and we all want the best for our children. At Parent Sanctuary, we understand that every family is unique. Whether you’re celebrating your first full night’s sleep or need a safe space to vent, we’re here for you.
About Parent Sanctuary
- Weekly guided walks in or around Huddersfield.
- Run by trained staff who are also parents, with expertise in perinatal mental health, breastfeeding, and babywearing.
- Pay-as-you-can pricing.
- Child-friendly: Play and learning opportunities during walks.
- Help with slings, carriers, and volunteers to support additional needs.
Your children are always welcome, and you can join alone, with a friend, family member, or support worker.

Weekly Schedule
We have regular walking and support sessions, all of which should be listed on the local events calendar.
Mondays: Accessible walks in parks or gardens with good public transport links.
10:00 AM – Greenhead Park
1:00 PM – Tolson Museum
Fridays: Longer, slow-paced walks (3-5km) in varied terrains.

Sling Library
We also offer a Sling Library where you can get support with your own carrier or try a new one.
These sessions happen every two weeks, on the following dates – 23rd Jan, 6th Feb, 20th Feb, 6th March, 20th March
Thursdays 9:30 – 11:30am at Penistone Leisure Centre on the following dates
Thursdays 12:30 – 2:30am at The Nest, Holmfirth
Sunday Sessions: Songdrawing Adventures
Creative family adventures in Grimescar Woods (off Norwood Road, Birkby).
