We have just spoken to Richard from Denby Dale Cricket Club who has said that they are having the worst season they have ever had – because of the weather!
They have yet to be able to play on a full field!
This Tuesday, they had over 20+ children on the field for practise and before they could get them off the field and into the changing rooms they soaked through.
It took 8 minutes for the field to go from being bone dry to being like a lake!
The water came in under the shutters and doors flooding the changing rooms.
3 days on they are still trying to dry it out! Downstairs is mostly okay, however it was the balcony that was the issue, as it just couldn’t take the amount of water that came down in such a short space of time.
Richard Hobson, the Chair at Denby Dale Cricket Club said “It were incredible! My shoes are still drying off from the time spent trying to pull the covers over the pitch”.
