Boost Yoga in Schools & Colleges

HD8 Network member Boost Yoga, offers inclusive yoga and mindfulness sessions that support curricular learning, PSHE targets and positive behaviour and attitudes.

In today’s society, poor mental health poses a great threat to our children and young adults.

Sophie founder of Boost Yoga explained to us how they deliver yoga sessions that address this and provide a safe space in which young people can learn to self regulate, manage stress and explore and connect with their thoughts and feelings.

She said “We believe that the physical practice of yoga is only half of the whole, so by merging yogic philosophy, psychology and physiology, we bring together many elements of yoga that really educate and empower young people and embed lifelong practices that can help to manage anxiety, anger and stress.”

Enrichment opportunities:

The Boost Yoga nursery sessions are developed with EYFS in mind and focus on bringing yoga and mindfulness to toddlers and preschoolers through imaginative storytelling, music, dancing, and mindful games and activities.

Schools and colleges:

Boost Yoga has developed 6 session courses available covering the following themes:

Emotions & regulation – looking at a range of emotions and their triggers and exploring the ways in which we can ground ourselves and reignite our parasympathetic nervous system.

Health & wellbeing – exploring healthy eating, the importance of routine and healthy habits, stress management, the benefits of nature, mindfulness, meditation and self reflection.

Yoga tree of life – these sessions look at some of the key philosophies of yoga; truth, gratitude, moderation, kindness, contentment and self awareness.

Each 45 minute session includes a combination of group discussions, yoga, meditation practices and mindful activities that reflect the theme of the session. The teaching style changes accordingly to align with age groups.
