Is this the end?

You may have noticed a new Instagram account and now Facebook page have been created, directly competing with the HD8 Network, and I just wanted to let you know it has nothing to do with us.  Especially as many people have approached me, including members believing it to be ourselves.

We are currently in conversation with intellectual property advisors about the situation.

It would appear to be run by a previous employee of Kirklees Light Railways who did their marketing.  We are familiar with her because she used to use our website to promote KLR activities and use our social media to share their message.

She is claiming that this is a free collab opportunity for businesses in the HD8 area.

As you know this is what we do.

However, we give you a presence in google search results so that you appear when people are looking for what you do.

And not for free, as that is unsustainable – we are a current case in point for that.

I can’t compete with free.

I already give more than 60 bronze memberships a year to community groups and charities (and aim to dramatically increase this – as its this that drives us) and host hundreds of events on the local events calendar a month for no income.

The HD8 Network business membership currently covers the costs.  I take no wage from it. I have also invested my own money and time into this over 11 years.

And so it is with regret that I have been considering shutting down the HD8 Network.

I do have another card up my sleeve … and if you believe in what the HD8 Network is trying to achieve I ask you to get in touch or enter your details below … so I can assess the situation.

If you don’t back the concept, there’s no point continuing … after all, I am trying to promote what you are doing.
