It is suddenly September, the schools are back, the nights are darker, and we are getting closer to Light Up The Woods, which takes place in Cliffe Woods, Clayton West on the 11th of November this year.
The event is a free-to-access evening with singing, light and fire displays from some 25 local schools, groups, families and organisations.
Ewan, one of the event organisers said “It would be fantastic if we could get some representation from all of the local schools, playgroups, Scouts, Guides, and others.”. Whilst this event is located in the Cliffe Woods in Clayton West it is for the whole of the HD8 postcode / Dearne Valley community.
There are still places for families and local groups to get involved with a light display.
If you might be interested then simply send an email to LUTW9402@gmail.com and they will get back to you with details.
“Displays can be as simple as lights in bottles, or as complex as willow and tissue artworks. We just want people to get involved and enjoy being part of this great community” says Vicki from Made in Clayton West; another of the event organisers.
As always, Light up the Woods welcome support for marshalling on the night.
This year there are also two opportunities for local businesses to become involved.
The first is to sponsor the catering provided by Clayton West WI, who work frantically to keep the teas and coffees flowing.
It would be fantastic if a local business could support them in return for their banner being displayed at the Cliffe Wood Clubhouse and mentions in dispatches before and after the event. Support could be in the form of a donation to help fund the supplies.
The second: Light up the Woods needs a (wo)man with a van to do a couple of shuttle runs, bringing some displays down to the event, and then after the event, possibly on Sunday, helping remove those displays that we wish to store again for another event – Again, the sponsor’s business will be mentioned in dispatches across social media and on the HD8 Network website.
